While I have very strong ideas about what it takes to be a successful communicator, each executive is unique. Some are exuberant and charismatic. Others project a quiet strength. I have achieved success with each of these types...and everyone in between. One thing most executives share in common is the fact that they are very busy. It is often difficult for them to commit to be at a certain place, at a certain time.
So, while I am happy to coach your executives at any time and any place, I also offer a compelling alternative. My live, face-to-face online coaching model provides executives with a convenient, very personal and customized experience that maps very specifically to the situations that are most relevant to your executives. NOTE: Whether we meet online or in person, coaching sessions are recorded and made available to executives for later review and reference.
The program is structured in the following manner:
- We begin our sessions by reviewing the communication experiences that executives may have had (if any) with media, analysts and other key audiences. We explore all other areas of concern. This triage allows me to properly focus and make the session immediately productive.
- From this assessment we engage in a Current State/Future State analysis to determine the specific objectives your subject matter experts want -- and need -- to accomplish by enhancing their executive communications skills.
- Having set the key objectives for the session, we explore the principles of success for establishing a thought leadership position in the market by reviewing the time-tested and proven "Managing the Message to the Mission" methodology.
- This is followed by the joint development of an editorial action plan (EAP) that provides a framework for matching key messages to target audiences important to the executive.
- We then proceed to a set of initial interviews or presentations in order to get a baseline of performance.
- After engaging in a constructive critique, we explore specific and practical opportunities for improvement. The cycle is repeated and refined until the executive...and the coach...feel good about the results.
- The program concludes with a review and debrief of the entire coaching session.
- When the session is over, the executive completes a brief online evaluation of the session to determine if it was an effective use of scarce and valuable executime. NOTE: I will only submit an invoice if the coaching was deemed worthwhile by your executive.
- I will prepare a confidential evaluation along with tailored recommendations for the executive to consider as he or she prepares for upcoming communication engagements.
